    Hey folks,
Looking to source a new/pre-owned Xbox1 if possible. Don't wanna pay over the odds for a old console like some folks are charging.
Anyone know of an online or offline store with a good deal? Don't need games, just a controller + cables. Warranty not even needed :D

    Cheers,
    Kerb

I bought 2 from game stop about 2 months ago for 60 euro a piece and soft modded the both. Check out the controllers before you buy them as some can be dodgy enough.

I bought one today in GAME in Liffey Valley for €55. I rang them up and they have a few in stock pre-owned.
Give GAME or GAMESTOP a ring as they usually have a few traded-in.

Yes I got one in GAME Cruises St Limerick for €55. Got a DVD playback remote and dongle free with it. Softmodded it and it works a treat :)

One question I have.....does softmodding it void the one year warranty GAME gave me with it?

    HA HA!

    Yes. Absolutely. Void.

Warranty void I'm afraid but if you soft-modded it you could restore it back to factory condition and they wouldn't even know. As long as the rubber feet and stickers weren't removed on the base of the chassis.

The original XBOX is a very very reliable piece of hardware, have heard of very few of them going bad; same can't be said for its successor.

hey, i bought a version 1.6 XBOX a while back and tried softmodding. Buggered up the HDD, so now the only way it can be fixed is if u get a chip and replace the HDD with a bigger one. if ya want, ill let ya hav it for 20? comes wit a controller and all the cables (still in plastic wrapping).

i was hot swapping it and accidentally pulled out the power cable on my PC. This locked the hard drive. So therefore it cannot be used. its a paper weight. The only way for the XBOX to be usable again is if a chip is bought for it. When u stick the chip in, it bypasses the standard XBOX boot procedure and boots up via the chips on board boot-a-majig. Through this, you can install a new hard drive.

I have this done on my other XBOX with a 250GB hard drive, and i have a whole rake of games and films and music on it.
