Hi am off on hols fairly soon & thinking of going to Cavtat in Croatia (near Dubrovnik)

but from what I have read it seems very quiet, does anyone know how far from Dubrovnik it is & would a taxi be expensive? or what the nightlife in Cavtat is like? because eventhough it sounds quiet it does sound nice.

Dubrovnik is also relatively quiet, it wouldn't be somewhere i'd go if I wanted a party holiday. In saying that it is beautiful though.

Cavtat is quiet - nice bars and restaurants that stay open late but I don't remember seeing any nightclubs there. Not the place to go if you're looking for somewhere lively. It's lovely though - the water is fabulously clear and blue. There are no beaches as such - you just swim off the rocks.

A taxi from Dubrovnik costs about €20. Dubrovnik has a lot more going on so it might be a better base if you're looking for better nightlife.

Both places are beautiful. If you do go, do a boat trip to the Elaphite Islands as well.

thanks for the replies, I am not sure if I want a party holiday, but the option of going out would still be nice.
