PS2 games on PS3 Region Free ?

I've been thinking of getting a PS3 for a while now and was wondering if my imported PS2 games would work on the PS3 ? I use Swap Magic on PS2 to play them but is the PS3 region locked for PS2/PS1 games ? Cheers.

Nope, everything but PS3 games locked to the PS3 region and no way around it.

ah crap. Would it be worth my while then getting a Jap PS3 instead of a Euro one ?

Then none of your european PS1/PS2 games or dvd's would work. Just get a PS3 here and keep your PS2 for your imported games.
