How about everyone recommend an airline they have flew with that would be a lot smaller than the bigger carriers and not everyone would've heard about, ill get the ball rolling with this cracking Spanish Airline, flew from Valencia to Ibiza last year with them and despite it being a short flight it was very pleasant, staff very friendly and this is the only airline ive heard playing some decent music, they had Love Generation by Bob Sinclair over the PA, i was surprised to hear that myself then again we were going to Ibiza:D

    Recommended smaller airline

    Memo to self:

Start up an airline with screens in every seat back.

    Mobile phone phone enabled.

    Play some "decent" music.

    laptop jacks on every seat.

    Sit back and grow rich

    To hell with safety:cool:

there is an airline in the US called jet blue that when they started up they had back seat tv's in every seat, leather seats too and better then average legroom. and they have below average fares. they got a lot of publicity at the time 'cause they where offering a "super-economy" class service at a no frills airline prices. they are still around but i don't know if they still have the leather seats or individual tellys. never flew with them, just heard about it.

decent music in an airplane is always a good idea but one mans decent music is the next mans load of old sh**e.

They are still around as far as I know.... Attracted major criticism for handling weather disruptions earlier in the year.

Obviously put more thought into IFE rather than operational expertise and customer service.

    Which supports my earlier post.

When i read the title, Vueling was the first name that popped into my head. I had a quick flight from Lisbon to Madrid, and can't fault them.

Aer Arann - pretty cheap and basic, but operates very efficiently in the shadow of the much-maligned Ryanair, and is a very welcome relief!

flew new york to vegas last august with them. couldn't fault them tbh, they had leather seats, the legroom was the most i've ever come across in economy and they had satellite tv in the headrests of all seats. they don't do meals but they do give out free coke/coffee and biscuits/crisps. i thought they were excellent.

my tuppence worth other than jet blue is clickair. they're a subsidary of iberia but they were streets ahead of their parent company in service and courteousy.

I have to say i flew with Condor Airlines (German) twice two summers ago firstly from Barcelona to Munich and then from there to Rome all in it cost less the €150 for the lot. We also got a free roll and drink, the seats were comfy with plenty of leg room. They were on time both times and get this their staff were friendly! This should be what low fare airlines should be like.

Condor are neither small nor budget :) They typically fly Germans on their summer holidays to beach resorts.

I flew to Cuba and back (to Frankfurt) with them a few weeks ago for €1000 return. The flights were 11 hours long, there was feck-all legroom and they didn't even have monitors on the back the seats. Instead there were some age-old monitors hanging from the top and you had to pay for earphones! A €1000 flight and you had to pay for some crappy earphones! If only BA flew there...

I've had a lot of difficulty with that croud. Twice been very delayed with them. 12hrs +. The ground staff was servisair and it seemed that Aer Arann had left Irl for the day.
The planes are rough on the inside. It's been a while since they've been upholstered. It's 2hrs+ from London, they Don't charge a budget price EVER and don't even give you a cup of tea.
They're also subsidised by 120euro per passenger for every galway-dub flight

    Ryanair over them please

I can't fault Aer Arann, and I'd recommend them to everyone.

Not as cheap as Ryanair, but equally not as money-sucking. No baggage charge, no check-in / boarding card charge etc etc.

We flew with them from Waterford to Birmingham (and back) recently. The ground staff in Waterford were fantastic. Friendly and welcoming - unlike some major long haul airlines we've flown with.

In the air, two stewardesses. One English, one Irish. Both very friendly and welcoming, and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs.

Aer Arann - a refreshing change.
