    Hi,
Any ideas on the best way to plan something like this? I was hoping of going for 3 weeks in Sept. Is the any special deals flight deals which would allow for say flight to NY then NY to vegas? I presume there is a bus or something from vegas to LA right?

I've been to Las Vegas and LA and i wouldnt recommend LA, i heard some bad stories, but i supose you need to experience it for yourself. I dont think there is a Bus from Vegas to LA, but you can drive if you rented a car, only about a 5 1/2hr drive or you could fly from vegas to la.

I am heading to chicago, san diego and las vegas in november
I was supposed to be going to LA instead of san diego but so many people have told me not to go to LA i changed my mind and picked san diego instead.
greyhound.com will gave you all the bus routes and prices in the states

An alternative to flying from NYC to LA is the train. The scenery is nicer and might be cheaper

check out amtrak.com Train goes via Chicago so maybe you could check out Chicago as well.

I wanted to do an east coast west coast trip myself but can get 3 weeks off to see everything I want.

Hope you have a great time, sounds like a cool trip

You can also get the train from LA to Vegas if you don't fancy driving. You don't need a car in Vegas so no point paying for one.

    Thanks for all the replys!

Something like a train from NY to vegas sounds appealing, depending on how long it would take of course.

I guess the only real option with regard to flights is something like a 1 way to NY and a 1 way from california, LA or wherever. Maybe even a single to Vegas from NY. I guess this will be fairly expensive.

ok having been to las vegas many times and los angeles 3 times can i just say that some of this information you are getting on this page so far is incorrect.

First there is NO train any more to las vegas. The last public train stopped running about 1970. Only long haul goods trains now stop in town (you mite be able to take a ride in the back of a chemical train if you want )

Second there is a bus from LA to vegas, its called the greyhound and they have numerous depots in LA county from which to catch a bus to las vegas; the depot in hollywood and downtown (which is basically in the middle of a warzone) are the two most popular. The bus is nice but can take upwards of 7 hours to get from la to vegas depending on the route through the desert that the driver takes. Usually the day-time trips take the longer route so beware.

My advice is this. Fly into Los Angeles direct from Dublin with Aer Lingus (book a one-way trip from Dublin to LA). Then depending on where you base yourself in LA; fly from there to Las Vegas (40 minute flight). There are flights every hour from Los Angeles International airport to Vegas via airlines like United ($39 one way) and from Burbank airport in the hollywood hills (approx 7 miles from Hollywood Blvd via Southwest ($49 one way). A flight from la to vegas will work out roughly the same price as a one-way bus trip. I have done both and flying is the only option in my opinion. You get all types of scumbags on american buses unfortunately (last time this guy had a great time telling me how many states he had been in prison in)

I would def stay at least 6 days to a week in las vegas (you will need it); 4 days is plenty long enough in New York imo and 4 days or maybe 5 days max is plenty in los angeles.

American Airlines fly direct from las vegas to new york for about $150 one way (deals on travelocity.com).

You could also fly one-way from dublin into New york, then one-way to vegas, then one-way to LA, then la home (easier as the 11hour flight from dublin to la is a killer and you would be dead tired for the first week of your trip)
