    Hi All,
I've been working for a comany the last 3 years but currently looking for another job. If I was offered another job, is it standard practice for the new company to ask for a reference check from my current boss, or would they only use the ones I have supplied?

I don't really get on with my boss, so I don't think he would have anything nice to say about me!:(

    Thanks

It is highly unlikely that they will contact your current boss.

As regards your boss, he is required by law to give you abasic reference at least, he cannot give you a bad one.

    The references supplied should suffice.

normally in Ireland all big companies make a reference check with you previous employers and some of them they send a questionare to fill and one of the worst question is..... do you re employ him/her ....reasons.

That won't matter if you do your job well. Bosses generally are professionals by nature and how they "get on with you" is not important. How you did your job is.

If he really hates you he might give a great reference just to get rid of you :D
