Was just wondering how easy is it to get a iron head replaced?
I'm not a regular golfer but need to have my damaged 7 Iron head replaced. Does anyone know how much the estimated cost be?

it depends on the model and whether they are still made.
is it in anyone fixable or does it definitely need replacing?

there are sites online that sell replacement irons for people
who have lost one from a set etc.

I think it needs replacing. I have contacted the original supplier as I think this was due to a casting fault. It happened in semi rough, not a stone anywhere near the ball. They are over a year old which is probably why the makers won't replace it. I like the shafts so thought I would be able to get a replacement head even if it's not the same make.

Thats nasty, never seeing anything like before. You must hit the ground with some force, but i would thought the ground would be soft with all rain where gettng

Yeah, ground was soft and didn't hit the ground that hard, made a full swing and the ball travelled a fair distance.

    looks like a fault alright.
    what make is it?

you'll find club component suppliers on ebay, or could get a 7 iron built here if you don't care if it matches.

    Looks nasty alright!

Where did you buy the clubs?

My dad brought a club back to McGuirks in Howth a couple of years ago, club head came off (clubs were about 5/6 years old). Asked politely could anything be done, was it fixable, etc? Salesman looked at it doubtfully and asked him to bring in the set.
When he brought in the rest of the clubs, the salesman told him they were out of production and couldn't be fixed, but gave him a whole new set of newer model irons free of charge - said as he was so polite and only asked about repair he'd sort him out - seems a lot of people walk in and demand a new set when this happens, they're fed up of it.
Just shows you if you take the right approach you may get something for it, and shows great customer service from McGuirks!

by any chance were these bought in the US and brought over here?

Only reason I ask is because something similar happened to 2 of a mates clubs (both times when I was playing with them) and the fault was due to the clubs being in the cargo hold of the plane or something and US clubs only having 1 coat of finish.

These were bought from The Sports HQ in uk. www.thesportshq.co.uk They were made in USA though.

I emailed the TSHQ last night, thanking them for their help and asked if they could contact the manufacturer (who said they wouldn't replace the club) and get a replacement head for me that I could get put on myself and how much would it be.
Received a reply not long after, about 10:30 last night, asking me for my address and they would send one over. No mention of €€€'s.
Now I assume that TSHQ are sending one but not sure if it's just the head or a whole club.
Very nice of them and I can't recommend them enough. :)

Fore golf in Naas if you are near or any good pro shop should do it for you. Glue is excellent these days so shouldnt cost much.

Just got back from three weeks away and the whole club was here waiting. :D

Just one little problem. How easy is it to remove the head and replace it on the original shaft?

The replacement club they sent has the correct 7 iron head but the shaft is steel and not carbon like the original.

Sorry, this post is of no help to you - but this thread reminds me of a story...

Ye know how everyone has a real jammy mate - a bit of a chancer that always seems to have the cards fall his way?

Anyway, my such mate was playing a round a few years ago, when he was more or less a beginner. He had a modest set of clubs, like most beginners... anyway, he was playing Ladyhill in Kildare (the most modest of modest golf courses!) and he found the head of a Ping driver... Picked it up, put it in his bag... then chanced his arm and brought it to a Pro shop (the story differs a little depending who tells it, he claims now he wasn't trying to get something for nothing, that he was prefectly willing to pay to have the clubhead 'shafted' so to speak)...

Anyway, guy in shop sends it to Ping and they send my mate back a brand new, state of the art driver (the one belonging to the head he'd found was discontinued)... jammy git...

Also, to really take the p*ss - after a couple more years of use, the club got damaged - he sent it to Ping, again chancing his arm, and got ANOTHER brand new (newer version) club sent back to him...

He used it up til a year or two agi when he got a G5... Git :D

It's very easy and straight forward. You have the origianal shaft, as in the one from the original set dont you? Bring it into any pro-shop anywhere and they will do it for you. Shouldn't be expensive.

Alternatively if your feeling a bit cheeky you could send it back to TSHQ and tell them it was a graphite shaft. (It actually not that cheeky, they'll just put that one back on the shelf and give you a graphite shafted one). But you will have to wait a bit longer I would say.
