    Hey guys quick q,

Difference between a 22" monitor and a pc input 30" tv?

I am getting a 8800gts for myself and just wondering if I got a
large tv for myself could I use it for tv and pc?
    The price difference is massive.
How would it fare with games?

Oh and could someone please recommend a case that fits a 8800gts barely/comfortably? Preferably with window.
Not really interested in modding a case to fit a window.
I have one of those cheap alien cases (oh, but I love it!)
and the scythe ninja is like 2mm from perspex window! So I doubt an 8800gts would fit.

    Thanks for any help guys

    The biggest differences are;

    * Monitor has much higher resolution than TV typically for a 22" it would be 1680x1050 whereas the TV would be 1366x768 however because 1366x768 is not a computer resolution over VGA you are limited to 1360x768 though you can force 1366 over DVI/HDMI.

    * Because you cannot use the native resolution over VGA then text legibility can be a bit off but it generally doesn't affect games/movies etc.

    * Because the resolution is fairly low some games will be running at 1280x720 or lower 1360x768 may not be supported it depends on the title. However some sets do not expose the 1280x720 resolution over VGA so you get 1024x768 and 1360x768 as your only options.

So with all that in mind generally there is no problem with using the TV for gaming the 8800GTS may be a bit overkill but you can play all games with AA & v-sync enabled so I'd save a few bucks and get the 8800GTS 320 instead of the 640 version.

The 8800GTS will fit in any standard ATX case. You can buy cases that come with a window pre-fitted like this one.

    Cheers 8t8
So the 8800gts should fit my case? It is an atx .
Will check sizes out, just wouldn't want to buy an 8800gts and then find
    that it wont fit!
Yeah was planning for 320MB all along, I heard that there is little difference between that and 640MB version performance wise.

So assuming I went mad and got This
37" TV everything should be as it would on a monitor?

    Thanks for help..

It should fit if your motherboard has a PCI-e x16 slot and is ATX.

The TV will function as a monitor yes over the VGA link.

Depending on motherboard layout and the other modification you may have. Like a bigger cpu fan etc.

hey man, too late it's ordered!!! Along with a LG 22" W/S!

Yeah have a scythe ninja but looking at it I cant see why it shouldn't fit, only thing is it might not get the cool air circulation it craves?

Which gts did you go for? If it uses the stock design it should be fine... If it has a extra big fan or heatsink though...

Also cabling might be a bit tight which is the real airflow killer. Try and get them sleeved and nicely tucked away.

My cabling as it is wont win me any awards i'm afraid, I went for the cheap version! :D
Which is the Evga 8800gts 320mb (Komplett)
Hoping there will be no problems....
Time will tell I guess.... seriously don't want to go through the hassle of moving components to new case and the hassle that comes with it.
Besides, I like the cheap Alien look!

A lot of people talking about how big it is... you might have to be lucky...

The 8800GTS are 9" in length same as the 7900GTX. The 8800GTX is a little longer at 11".

Hey guys, right here's the update.

    I got a 40" LCD Sony Bravia

    1 x DVI-HDMI cable.

    Ordered 1 x 22" W/S LG TFT Monitor

    Ordered 1 x 8800GTS 320MB

Okay, the PC connected to the 40" via the VGA-VGA cable and is perfect
but I want to use two monitors so to interchange whether it be games or internet, so I got a DVI-HDMI cable. (as GFX card = 2xDVI Outputs and 1x DVI/VGA adapter)
So I attached it and... nothing!!
    No signal coming through?
    Anyone have this problem before?

you need to go into your nvidia control panel and enable the second monitor, it won't be turned on as default
