Irish world champions

    With all the expectation attending the forthcoming rugby World Cup, it's worth asking, have Ireland ever been world champions at any TEAM sport?

    Apart from Quidditch? (Have to get a Harry Potter reference in given the week that's in it)

    Drinking I think we topped some some poll recentley as the top drinkers in the world. Also Tug of War.

    Yep O'driscoll and I think O callaghan were on the team.

    They won the Aussie Rules international Cup in 2002 in Oz , finshed 4th in the 2005 event .
