NTL guide *never* works

Am I just unlucky but in the 3 houses i've lived in with NTL digital, the guide NEVER works. It normally only shows what's on for the next few hours. Occasionally you get lucky and can see what is on a channel the next day.

IMO this renders the autotune and reminder function completely useless!

    Anyone else have this problem?

I was at a mates house recently (I have sky myself) and all it seemed to show was "Gathering Data". I get down on my knees every day and thank God I don't have to use NTL. I've never heard anything but bad stories about them.

That happens to me alot as well but i just flick through the channels manually like the old tv. Haven used the EPG much yet. Still set in my old ways

The new EPG for the new platform seems rock solid. 8 day guide which looks very like the Sky setup. You'll see it here under No.5.

I've had the same ntl digital box for a couple of years.
I find a regular RESET keeps the EPG usable.

Peess HELP on remote, then RESET (yellow button IIRC)

I'm curious about references to the new set-top box. I had read that something was due for launch in July but, being filled with ntl cynicism, I didn't believe it would happen any time this year.

What can the new set-top box do ?

    HDD ?
    Improved EPG ?

If it was NTL then I'd believe it when I see it but maybe UPC will pull their finger out...unlikely though.

NTL....UPC......same company. Any of the new adverts now have Chorus/NTL...a UPC company.(underneath in small print) At this stage it's NTL only by name which will be dropped at a later date. It's UPC running the show now.

I'm testing the new box atm and believe me it's miles ahead of the current EPG.
Full 8 day guide,no "gathering data" crap,no stopping at 12am when you want to know whats on during the night. You need a stable EPG for a PVR box.New none pvr box will have the new system too. The pace boxes will still run on the current EPG but I don't think they can be made run on the new guide.
Word on the street is looking at mid to late august for a public launch.

Quick example of the guide and how far ahead it will go. The box in the top right is the station you were watching prior to calling up the guide. No more City Channel. :)

Will the new boxes from NTL be available to existing customers or only to new customers?

It'll be available to both new and existing.
Anyone know a price for the box? Or the monthly fee?

It'll be a monthly fee setup. Can't say what the fee is but I do know that you can't buy the box like you do with Sky.
yes it is the exact same for me. If I try to look from tomorrow onwards it's "gathering data".

I get the exact same too. (on my old box:D )
