3rd Battalion, Messy Company Combat Report

My company were deployed to HRTA, Swords at approx 10:30. Most men showed up as late as 11:30 (the men will need to be disciplined for this). Spirits were high even with the replacements, these rookies stuck out like a sore thumb, me too. There was some SWAT guy there but i did not confront him as he may have been mentally ill.

Our Company was split into 2 teams and were put through various scenarios. The 10 foot rule on the Tanker was up first. As an attacker i got 3 confirmed kills on the rear of the tanker which i was highly pleased with. However when it came time to defend i got nailed in the head only 1 minute after it started.. sigh

2 more teams were decided and Dara was named as the VIP. At first we could barely move as the enemy had up pinned down so well. I was on the attack and was yet again moving up the back lane. 3 times in total i was killed along this route. Each time from some guy in among the bushes on the left. God damn you sir... god damn you.

I registered 3 hits in the Kidney, 4 in the Calf, and 3 in the shoulder, all on me! However i did finally make it to the corner of the field. Once there i spotted the VIP sprinting like a looney through the field until he disappeared from my sights a little prematurely. The referee sign was visible and the game was over. The wounded (Dara) was taken to Beaumount and returned to active duty 2 hours later with some stitches. Good on ya mate!

The next VIP game i sat out. My untrained legs, smokers lungs and lack of water due to my water pouch bursting all combined to a need to rest. I blamed this on needing ammo and having kept it in my car it was the best excuse.

When i returned a i witnessed the deployment of a real smoke grenade. HOLY ****. that is a lot of smoke from such a little can. Niice....

A short recess to rearm and resupply brought out the tales.
I joined a bunch of smokers and got some interesting info on my m4 and accessories and purchases for it. More handy info and names than i could retain really.

A few more games were had and my favourite of the evening was "hunt the sniper". I was point man on my 3 man squad and made my way up to the back of the bunker. I was proned and moved out slowly. I cleared the area or so i thought when i witnessed my comrade shotting just beside me and being shot. He was out... but so was the sniper! :p

Having had my near brush with death i felt safe in my position and began to survey the terrain. This was a false sense of safety which really only lasted 10 seconds until the sniper sitting in the bush next to me declared "Bang, your dead" to which i replied "awww ****". Not a single shot fired. And i had proned in that Mud for nothing. pfft.

The last game went sour but i'm just going to forget that. Lets put it down to us boys with our toys being tired and a little moody. Overall it was a great experience, even if the grounds are a little small. We will have to make a trip to Predator sometime. It sounds awesome.

I would like to thank all the guys there as you were great sportsmen and extremely helpful to this rookie. I will definitely be making this a common weekend thing, maybe every second weekend but i will definitely return this coming weekend.

Special thanks to Liam for lending me 2 extra m4 mags.. god they came in handy. To Andy for showing me that sniping is totally awesome, and to Shingles for being my buddy :p

    File end.

P.S. i hurt everywhere and i had to spend 1 hour cleaning my gear due to all the freaking MUD!
    I <3 it though :)
