Help with Tourney

I run a small pub game, 30euros in. I normally get around 15-20 players. Its a freezeout with 10,000 starting chips. No re-buys or add ons.

The problem is we have to leave at 1am, it starts at 8.30pm. Im playing around with the blinds, but the game either finishes too early or has too many players in at 1am.

Wot would you set the blinds at? I dont want to scare people off by being to aggressive, but i need to be finished by 1am.

    Any thoughts?

probally should be in the tournament forum but anyway,

I played in one last night started at 9 with 10,000 stacks

blinds started at 50-100, with 3 30 mins levels and they skipped the 300-600 level with was a big jump. but anyway it didnt finish near 1 and tbh the pub doors were shut but the poker continued.

maybe find a hotel that lets you use function room?

start with less chips , 10K starting stack for €30 buyin is insane, sure look at the SE monday game €100 and 7K starting stack

well i'm not an expert with that - but i just thought that havin 10K starting stack was the main reason behind it going so long....

Start non - negotiably at 20.30.

    20 min levels.

    25 / 50
    50 / 100
    75 / 150
    100 / 200

    Break - 10 mins sharp

    150 / 300
    200 /400
    300 / 600
    400 / 800
    500 / 1000
    700 / 1500
    1000 / 2000 / 200
    1500 / 3000 / 300
    2000 / 4000 / 400 1am.

With 20 players you will have 100, 000 chips in play. As such, you are definately finishing after 12.

I would even say that you could increase the time of your break by 5 mins, have a five min smoke break after the 400 / 800 level, make the starting stacks 6000 - and still be finished by 1.

Thanks, i'll run this on Monday night an let you know. Much appreciated.

I used to run a 30FO in a casino in Dublin,

4k starting chips, 20 minute blinds

    25/50
    50/100
    75/150
    100/200
    150/300
20min break and take in the 25 chips, also a 10 minute break before the final table.
    200/400
    300/600
    400/800
    500/1k
    800/1500
    1k/2k
    1500/3k
    etc.

Started at 4 30, was always over around 10 with 30 to 50 runners. I was also generally able to freeze the blinds for the final table so if needed it could have finished a lot quicker.

    this is pretty good except:

do you really trust yourself to get it started at 20.30 sharp and to get players back immediately after the break? Remember you will also have to colour up, these things always take longer than expected.

I would probably go with the same except take out the antes (self deal tournament with wasted players and you want to explain to them the antes) and skip one level somewhere, probably 75 150.

It does'nt matter what the starting stack is, let it be a million, if it has to end at 1am then the big blind needs to be the same amount at that time. That will leave 30 BBs on the table, usually in a pub game this the end.
