is there a good Broadband Down and Upload speed checker. and can it give details of which connector(if that's the right word!) i'm on? Also anyone use onspeed.com ? is it worth the annual prescription to increase speed,(i have 1mb) or just pay the extra to get 2Mb or More download.

Onspeed will do absolutely nothing for you.
