Anyone having trouble with Quicktime?

Last weekend, quicktime stopped playing all the tv I download. It wont even generate a preview of it - just sits there with the old beachball spinning. I have to use FFmpegX to play them, but it's a nuisance as I cant fast forward, etc.

It's quicktime pro, fully up to date on a PPC Powerbook.
I saw that there were some issues with the latest QT release, but no mention of problems with DivX encoded files.
Anyone else have the same problem??

    QuickTime 7.2?

Yeah there are a lot of issues with it. We develop a software application which uses QT shared libraries and we have had to refactor loads of code following the latest QT release. Apple appear to have 'adjusted' the way way QT renders movies, affecting how the coloured pixels are processed, thats what I have noticed anyway. This latest release appears to have lots of fundamental changes which are not obvious to the user but seem to have some refactoring at ground level, I would be very surprised if there weren't loads of users having issues, esp PPC users. My guess is tis all part of the move to 64bit applications and the code for all the common apps is being adjusted for optimal performance.

I havent looked at any of the QT related forums but Im guessing lots of people are having issues!! Sorry I cant offer any thoughts on how to fix it, other than rolling back to the previous version, but hopefully you wont feel like its just your machine now!

Thanks for the info. Might have a look later and see if the 3rd party divx plugins have been updated to address this new 'config' in quicktime. I'll be getting a new imac just as soon as they bother releasing the new version, so at least I'll be out of the PPC dark ages.
