I visited some forests and mountains in the Dublin/Wicklow area last week. There's some fantastic scenery,it's much better than anything we have down here.Anyway after taking some advice on board from the previous thread I have returned with a couple more photos.I got rid of the vivid look I was going for and went for the more eerie atmospheric look.So an improvement or a disimprovement? Any tips welcome

4 agus 8 are my favs from the set. The black and white works very well with those.

Really like the second one, but the third one is an absolute gem - beautifully composed and the kind of shot I'd give someone else's eye to have taken ;)

Yeah, very good stuff. Some different styles going on. I think maybe the last one is too dark in the fore- to mid-ground.

#2 has potential, but you'd need to see a print to know whether it was working or not - it doesn't look like there's an awful lot of shadow detail. On screen it looks a little off horizontal and the patches of sky along the top of the frame are a little distracting.

#3 might benefit from a cropping out much of the left hand side and a ton more contrast. Very flat at the moment.

#4 needs an almost identical crop - it has no detail at all on the whole left side of the ground and not a lot happening in the sky.

#8 feels very heavy. Dodging the foreground might even out the composition and bring up some interesting detail.

Some very nice shots there.. Great atmosphere in the B&W ones.. Like number 2 alot.. Number 4 has potential but maybe needed to be closer to the tree and make that more of a focal point.. Nice work.

Thanks for the comments and advice everyone.I'll try a few of the crops later and mess around with the photos a bit more.I may have overdone the last one.It just looked so barren in real life I wanted to do it justice.Coillte are logging at an alarmingly fast rate around Dublin.Half of the forests I visited were being logged :mad:It's a shame to see mountain biking is officially banned up there aswell :( .I had no trouble with the locals though so I assume it's fine.
