Yet another request for which Lens

    Folks,

I am looking ofr your advice as i think you all give very constructive and well informed opinions here?

Anyway i am just a hobby photographer and have yet loads to learn.

I have the Canon 30D and i my favourite lens because of it's versatility is actually the kit lens (even though all the experts say throw it in the bin).

Anyway i think i made an errror as i splashed out a few months back on the Canon 17-40mm lens and i love the quality etc and is so nice doing landscapes even on the crop camera.

I also have the Canon 50mm X 1.8 which i am not too keen on as its very limited with zooming etc.

Anyway i think i need a proper all round lens that can be left on the camera 95% of the time and that can do the great Canon 30D some justice.

Was thinking of the Canon 17-85 IS F2/8 or else the Canon 15-55? As i am only a still a learner please advise me or perhaps you think i have more money than sense? (like the Mrs says)

You didn't make an error in the 17-40. It's a great quality lens.

How much are you willing to spend? Don't mind the Mrs ;)

If you get the 17-85 you'll be covering part of a focal length 3 times, so I'd say go for something a bit different, then again, if you are happy with that focal lenght... why not go for the 17-55 2.8 IS?

    Sorry,

Forgot to mention i am considering selling the 17-40 even though i love the lens quality and think that lens has my taste spoiled.

Its put on adverts today :(

(not sure if i am allowd to mention or plug that advert)
