    1. Person says "raise", moves half his chips over the line, then moves the rest... string bet?

    2. Dealer awards the pot to the wrong person before it's noticed the other player won. Whats the ruling?

    1. Provided the 1st amount of chips moved into the centre is not the exact amount to call the orginal bet/raise it is a string bet.

    2. If the winning hand was shown face up, that player should be awarded the pot. If the chips have been mixed in with the losing players chips, the TD should try his best (along with the dealers help) to recreate the betting and award that amount.

    1. Careful with this one. In very many rooms there is no penalty for string raising so long as there is no significant pause between the actions. However I strongly disagree that string raising should be permitted and I believe the TDA has moved to disallow it in their recent revision of the rules.

    2. the cards, if shown, have already spoken - best hand wins. Unless a new hand has commenced.

    1. i think with this one you need to look at why the string betting rule was introduced. and i believe it was so players couldnt gauge a reaction from other players and adjust his raise accordingly. so while it is a string bet technically i wouldnt be so strict in enforcing it. i would simply inform the player, if he didnt already know, not to bet like this and to announce the bet size or place all chips in together.

    2. this is a tricky one. why does no one notice who wins the pot at first?? but to answer this you would need to know at what stage the play was at when it was noticed..whether hands had passed by or whatever

The string bet happened the jackpot, i called string bet and pretty much the entire table disagreed with me. Both people in the hand were happy to let the all in stand, so i left it. I just wanted to be sure of the rule, 9 people disagreeing is pretty convincing!

The second one happened twice, first time the cards had been shuffled for the next hand, the second time cards were still face up and it was the TD who noticed.

Too late - once the next hand has been started you cannot change the previous one.

The rule is that the cards speak - this means that even if it is miscalled the best hand still wins. Unless the next hand has already started of course!

Depends on house rules. In some places if the chips 'cross the line' the player wrongly awarded the pot can keep them.
