New music magazine next year (Analogue)

What with everyone's seemingly extensive (if not eclectic) music tastes as seen in the What are you Listening to/Watching etc thread, I figure at least some of you may be interested in learning that there will be a new magazine under the hat of D.U Pubs (you might remember them from such publications as TN, Pirahna, Icarus etc).

It's called Analogue. Why am I telling you this? No, it's not just blatant advertising (that's just an added bonus). I'm telling you this because Analogue Magazine wants YOU to get involved (cue hilarious cartoon of Uncle Sam pointing at you).

Fancy yourself as the next Jim Carroll (or any other music journalist for that matter)? Then get pen to paper, fingers to keyboard etc. Or if you don't like words, then bring a camera to the next gig you attend. Photographers are useful too.

So if you want to get involved, contribute ideas, or send them hate mail, email Analogue at analoguemagazine<at>gmail<dot>com.
Analogue is the exciting new music magazine due to hit the Trinity College in early October. Analogue aims to fill a void within the student publications of Trinity, discussing the coolest and weirdest in new music in a Fresh voice.

The magazine will Include gig reviews, new releases, exclusive interviews, competitions and much more. Analogue aims to be the essential guide to music in college, and to create an environment where students can talk about the music they love, in their own voices.

High-profile Dublin launch nights, a fantastic new website and exclusive competitions will all help to secure Analogue’s title as a must-see music magazine, and a breath of fresh air in Irish music coverage. This website will host the content of each issue and will include a forum for student feedback and discussion.

Hmm, I enjoy music! And I did promise to myself that I would write for some Trinity publications next year... Maybe I should e-mail them?

OR, I could procrastinate and end up wasting another year of my life. Decisions, decisions.

I know exactly what you mean... I would like to actually get involved and do something this year and that seems fun.

What type of thing do you send? A review? Or just a begging letter saying you want to get involved? Both?

I went for the begging letter approach, which was partly successful - both is a better option.

Ah I hate doing this type of thing... Must do it though...

Can we send full articles? And also can be they an editorial style general approach or must they be specific i.e a review of an album or gig?

    Hi Everyone,
I actually asked Ronny to put up something on Boards about Analogue because I wasn't a member... I didn't realise so many people were responding to this ad on boards and I do appreciate the "begging letters" I've gotten so far.

For those of you who still want to get involved and who haven't contacted me already, send an email explaining what music you're into and 2 sample pieces of writing to analoguemagazine @ gmail.com. What exactly do I mean by sample pieces of writing? These can be an album review, a gig review, a random experience related to music, an interview, an opinion piece or basically anything which you think will show you have what it takes to be a music Journalist.

Analogue aims to cover artists with an alternative edge from Indie to Electronica, Hip Hop, PostPunk, Alt Folk, Dance, and everything in between. Check out our brand new website www.analoguemagazine.com for more info!

Analogue is the newest addition to the Publications line up, a forum for student writers to express their opinions about the music they love. We're covering artists with an alternative edge from Indie to Electronica, Hip Hop, PostPunk, Alt Folk, Dance, and everything in between. Analogue will focus on the most important bands from each of your favourite genres, and expose you to credible music you haven't heard before, both cutting edge and classic.

No matter what music you're into, we hope you'll find Analogue a breath of fresh air. The magazine will include gig reviews, new releases, exclusive interviews, competitions and a website with audio interviews and exclusive tracks. We're already catching the best gigs of the summer, and we'll be there during the year to keep you up to date with the latest gigs, and give you the low down on the most important new releases. Check out our first issue, including interviews with Deerhoof, the Shins, Pantha Du Prince, Simple Kid, Buck 65, a tonne of reviews, features and more.
