    hey

trying to get a handle on the VRT rate for a SAAB 900 cabrio, classic saab model

Pretty much anything in a hard top is now down to 315 for VRT but the cab is not listed on the VRT site which makes me worry they have lumped these in the "classic and convertible" pool, with silly numbers being asked.

    please dont refer me here

    any experiences?

    thanks

I was advising someone else about the purchase of a c900 convertible, the revenue valuation they got was as follows:

    A( pristine) 7250 B(average) 6000 or C(bad) 4250.

Thats not an unreasonable valuation, ( they undervalue the hard tops ), its the rate thats unreasonable. They sell for even more than 7k here, for a good spec late car, people are asking over 10k. I've heard of them SELLING for 12k.
Part of that is people trying to get all the money back, purchase price + vrt.
Its a little bit optimistic for values in the uk. Its possible to get a good one for 3000 - 3500 pounds. So the thing to do is find a complete minter, with the full spec, for a good price, you'll just have to deal with the vrt. Or buy a hard top :)

thanks man, yikes thats scary, 30% of B is nearly 2K, just for VRT, which is pure nuts consdering you could put a decent nick daily drive T16 coupe with leather on the road for 2.5 all in!!!!!!!!!

I'll keep looking for a coupe so :-)

cheers Gerry, I'll be SAAB'd again

Good stuff. Yea, the 3dr makes far more sense economically, you have an extra 5 grand straight away. I'd advise spending not less than 1500 pounds sterling even on a 3dr, you'd like one that has had "money no object" maintainence, unless you want a rolling restoration project like my car :)
    Heres a nice one: http://uksaabs.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=18325
