I have about 70 or so images in RAW that I've been sitting on for a week or so, thought I had time to go through them. The band want them this afternoon though, or a look at them at least. Two questions...

There seems to be a few scripts out there for batch conversion to Jpeg. Anyone recommend one over another? For CS3. I have lightroom but it very unstable so I generally leave well enough alone.

Is batch converting 70 8mp images going to completely cripple this thing? I have a teensy half gig ram on the laptop, 1.7 centrino chip.

Lightroom won't run well on your machine, not enough RAM. For a quick look at them picasa would probably work, not much control though.

I have a celeron 1.4 with 1.5gb ram and leave it happily converting up to 200 RAWs to jpeg while outlook and IE and Bridge CS3 are open. Just get some more ram and you will be fine. V cheap at the moment

You should be able to use File->script->image processor in CS3. You can apply actions to them aswell if you want to resize or whatever. It just does them one at a time so you can leave your laptop alone for awhile :)

Thats running now Mantel - thanks! Seems to be flying through them :) I thought I'd have to download a script so nice surprise!

Yep - gotta get more RAM. Gotta figure out how to put in in first!

Bring it to where you buy the ram and they will probably put it in for you.

What model laptop is it? Some of them just have a panel you unscrew on the bottom and you've got two RAM slots you can throw an extra one in too, some have it on top under the keyboard or under a panel you prise off. Once you know the model you can find the instructions which tell you what goes where.
