i called magnet the other day to try to upgrade to get some more tv channels.
im currently on magnet adsl2 8 meg with a tv subscription.

they advised me they cant offer me anymore channels.
i told them that less that 3 months ago i was receiving all channels.I downgraded when ntl came along but need to upgrade as ntl cant provide a service (long story)
anyway the guy told me they are only offering extra channels to ftth customers.
i asked him to explain the situtaion to me, but he wouldnt.
its not like i would be uisng more bandiwth as i cant watch more than one channel at once.

he just said no new customers, and that was it.

does anyone know if there is a way to get more channels from magnet or is there a valid reason for not selling to exisitng customers?

What sort of service is that meant to be? What's the point of carrying extra channels if subscribers can't even watch them? Have you threatened to cancel unless the situation is resolved?

Is it possible it's just not rolled out on ADSL2+ or that there isn't sufficient bandwidth?

    theyve withdrawn them from adsl2.
they only way there wouldnt be sufficient bandwith is if all channels are broadcasting at the same time to all ips.
i would have thought they only broadcast the stream you request,
hence the 30 seconds+ delay in changing channels sometimes.

i cant cancel as landlord wont allow sky and ntl cant give us a service.
    magnet are my last hope

They only send the channel you are watching. It makes no sense. The ONLY advantage of LAME IPTV is to have 10,000 items of back catalogue and all the channels. What they are doing might suggest they are pulling out of ASDL altogether eventually.

    30 SECONDS TO CHANGE CHANNEL??

just timed it there, i guess was exagerrating slighly...
the longest recorded channel change is about 20 seconds from the key presses being accpeted on screen to the new channel starting.

that hasnt happened in about a week now and channel changes are around the 2-3 second mark
