Moving to Ireland/keeping job?

    Hi all,

I have a friend who's thinking of moving to Ireland from London, and hoping to keep her existing job. Her work is pretty much entirely phone- and email-based anyway, so there's no practical reason she can't work as effectively from here as from a flat in London.

Assuming she can persuade the boss, does anyone know what the practicalities are regarding living in Ireland but working for a UK employer? This is a company that doesn't have, and doesn't intend to have, an operation in Ireland, so they're not registered as an employer with Revenue. If she lives here full-time, she'll have to register for tax here, right? and if she's not normally resident in the UK, she can't continue to be treated as an employee there?

If anyone has any insight into this, I'd appreciate it.
