Apologies if this has been done before or is in the stickies - I did look... honest.

Anyway, I've taken the tentative first steps to making my girlfriend a golf widow. Nothing serious at this stage - I've taken a couple of lessons, played about 2 rounds and gone the driving range a couple of times.

Anyway, picked up a Calloway X460 driver at a knockdown price the other day only for my old man to suggest that the regulations governing drivers is to change next year and that this might rule out the new one. He suggested that maybe that is the reason it was so cheap.

Its not that I'm planning on making the pros or anything but I'm such a novice at this stage that I don't know what levels the new regulations will apply at. Also, I know a lot of people take their golf very seriously and if I do join a club I don't want to get off on the wrong foot.

So does anybody know if there is a list of drivers which will breach the new regulations (and where can I find it) and will the new regulations even matter for the completely rubbish level i will be playing at?

    Thanks

    S.

Check the R&A and USGA websites. They both have a link showing conforming/non-conforming drivers. As far as I'm aware they will only be illegal in official competitions. If you're just starting out and playing with your friends you won't have a problem using one of these non-conforming sticks.
