Hi all. I have a €150 budget for a digital camera, I realise this isn't a great deal but can somebody recommend a decent camera for this price? We have a 2mp (about 4 years old) which takes good pictures but the problem is the time it takes to take between pics, feels like about 5 seconds, obviously not ideal when trying to capture a 1year old smiling!

i've had a few p & s's , and just got an expensivish one recently , panasonic, not too happy with it , for the money .
Anyway i've never owned a sony , but they get good reports , also mentioned in rymus/shiny link .
So at 160 euros plus postage this looks reasonable

Have a look at this one.

Had its younger brother and it did a super job for 2 weeks in Vegas. Crystal clear and small enough for your pocket

+1 for Sony's, sell them by the bucket load in work, and have one myself. :)

DSC-650 is a budget model, get for 145-160 in bricks and mortar shop.

7.2 megapixels, takes AA batteries, 2" viewable screen.

If at all possible, avoid any camera that takes AA or AAA batteries.
They chew up batteries, which is an environmental & economical issue.
If at all possible, get a camera with a rechargeable cell.

I'd prefer getting one that takes AAs so I can use high capacity rechargeable NiMH batteries instead of a proprietary Lithium Ion which may become difficult (and expensive) to replace as time wears on.

Also you have the advantage of being able to stick in a set of Duracels if your stuck on holiday with dead rechargeables at the wrong time.
