I was wondering if anyone could help me with an enquiry about getting a cheap, easy to use payroll system.

Its for a person I know who is a painting contractor and he employs around 20 people and wants to get something to keep track of pay and what not.

I know there are one or two free ones out there and ones to buy, but with us not knowing much about them any reccomendations or advice would be much appreciated.

    Cheers!!

You would be better off getting one from Sage. Something like this would be fine.

Also you could use a company called Ardbrook

At least then you have peace of mind with the annual support.

I would suggest Thesaurus Payroll www.thesaurus.ie, you can download their payroll and try it free for three weeks for the weekly option or 1 month for the monthly option, I have used this package for over 10 years and it is really useful program. You do not need to buy any special stationery if you do not want to and there is a helpline service which is excellent. Highly recommended

Another package I have heard of is Keysolve also Irish written.

I've used one from a company called Payback - their website is www.payback.ie

I run my own payroll bureau and use it for all my clients and find it really flexible and easy to use.

As an alternative to buying a system he could outsource his payroll to a company like mine (apologies for the shameless plug) and take all the hassle out of it.....
