painting new plaster

Hi, should I precoat a newly plastered ceiling with something before I give it a coat of paint? And if so, what? Regular paint ok? I read something on the paint tin about sealing the plaster first. thanks, J

You can buy a primer for new plaster work, its usually white or clear.
Water down the paint for the first coat will work just as good.
