Changing laptop HDD

I've a Dell Inspiron 9300, out of warranty. The HDD has failed and I've bought a new one. I didn't get an OS disk(XP) or recovery disk with the system. Will they supply me with one if I ring them, and two+ years after the purchase?

Call them and see perhaps? Just have your service tag and other relevant details handy for the call. Doubt there will be a problem.

You may have some trouble obtaining them but keep at them, they usually give in. Oh and expect them to charge you for them too. Its around €15 to have a hard copy of the OS recovery cd sent with the machine for non-xps owners, god knows what they may charge out of warranty. If that fails you can pick up cheap (legal) copies of XP on eBay and the Drivers are all available on the Dell website once you select your system or enter your service tag. Keep us updated on what happens.
