    Hi All

    Hopefully someone can help me with this issue!!!

    On our home PC we have Windows XP and 3 user accounts set up. We always end up using the one account.

    Every time we login to this a/c we get the following error messages:

    * ccApp.exe - Application Error
    * osCheck.exe - Application Error
    * PIFSvc.exe - Application Error

    All appear to have the same error code, see attached files.

    The other 2 accounts do not have this problem????

    Any help on what could be the problem and how to solve it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    All those applications are related to your Norton security applications.

    Is the user account showing difficulty a limited account or an administrator account? What about the other two?

    Hi Aidan, thanks for the reply!

    The problematic account is a limited a/c.

    Regarding the other 2 a/c's, one is limited (and never used!) and the other is administrator.

    Ok, this seems to be a known issue where DLLs required by those applications don't have the correct permissions set for the user account.

    To fix this, log into the Administrator account and open the Command Prompt (Start > Run > enter cmd and press OK).

    Type cd c:\windows\system32 and press Enter.
    Type cacls msvcp71.dll /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R and press Enter.
    Type cacls msvcr71.dll /E /G BUILTIN\Users:R and press Enter.

    The next time you load that account, it should work.

    cheers aidan!....will give that a go!

    two questions though:

    1. why is this only showing up now? this a/c has always been limited and i've had norton renewed since january.

    2. by entering those commands, am i changing the admin rights on this a/c?

    thanks again!
