when i play any notes high on the fretboard of my les paul, they vibrate a lot more than they should and make a rattling sound, also when all 6 strings are strummed, the g string stops vibrating after 2-3 seconds while the others keep going for a lot longer.
any ideas how to fix this? im thinking of adjusting the tuneomatic (not sure if it is spelt wright!) bridge

It can be one of two things:
Either your action is too low, which means the strings are so close to the neck that they're hitting the frets when they vibrate, or the neck is bowed and you need to fix that instead. If it's the former, it's easy to adjust but if the neck is bowed (check the string height at various places to see if it changes) then you should probably bring it to a technician as adjusting the truss rod in your guitar which controls the amount of bow can go wrong if done incorrectly. Most likely, if it's a new guitar, you've just set the action too low.

In relation to the 'high notes' problem - you just need to raise your action.

It's probably not the bow of the neck, that won't have any bearing whatsoever on any frets past the point where the neck stops bowing - ie if its high notes (15th fret +) that are fretting out, there's no need to go near the truss rod. (However, it wouldn't hurt to check the relief/bow anyway, its something to do every now and then as part of standard maintanance/setup.)

Raising the action on a LP is easy, any setup guide will show you how. Just raise the treble and/or bass side of the bridge until the buzzing stops (to your satisfaction - you mightn't care if it's buzzing at the 15th fret of the low E if you cant reach there for example).
