window frame adhesive stuck behind dash

I'm wondering if anyone else has had the issue whereby the adhesive protection strips provided by their double glazed window suppliers has become trapped or hard to remove along the vertical edges behind window reveals/external plasterwork. Our plasterers (who are very fine and reputable) put a pebble dash finish on our house. However, while the adhesive on the cross sections and horizontal sections of the window frames came away easily the vertical edge sections appear to go right inside sections where the plastering finish is.

I phoned the window supplier (tj grady) and they don't have any specific advice.

I know a blade is one possibility but I'm nervous about scratching the window frames and I'm really just looking for top tips from someone who has come across this issue.

    ipl
