Some sort of virus/error

    Were getting an error in work which when you boot up instantly tries to shut down the computer. So we "shutdown -a" it and that solves the problem.

    However, a few other small things happen, but nothing really noticable, the main one being for some reason the shift key gets triggered. I rekon theres something in a bat file(the one that runs on startup) thats calling chr(10) (i think it is). This is getting really frustrating for the users as they go to select one item on the desktop/ and its selecting 25 odd items/emails at a time, depending where you click on the desktop.

    Does anyone know of anything going around atm, and above all if there is a fix for it? We need a fix asap

    A repair install would repair any .bat files that have been changed, but it won't fix the pop ups. If it was my own machine I'd put spybot, adaware and avg onto it, update them and do a scan with all of them. Then i'd run hijackthis to see what remains after everything that was detected has been removed. But, you're dealing with work computers so I've no idea what your IT policy is there, or what anti virus / anti spyware software you guys use. It might be worth running smithfraud fix as well.

    Sounds similar to the Sassar virus...

    Do not run SmitfraudFix, if you are allowed to run HijackThis then do the following :

    Download and install HijackThis from here

    Run it and click "Do a system scan and save a logfile" and paste it here
