Sky and recordable DVD player?

Firstly, apologies if this has been covered before. The boards search function doesn't work on Safari...
I'm also not the most technically-minded person, hence this post!

I have Sky digital, with a dish. I bought a new DVD player which can also record. However I don't think I can get the TV through the DVD player?

Am I right? Is Sky 'recordable' only via Sky+?

    Any help much appreciated.

run one scart to your tv, and an other to your dvd recorder. sky boxes have two scart outlets, that both output the same signal.

It doesn't work properly in a lot of forums, when using Firefox, but there is a work around for it. Maybe it'll work in Safari as well.

Limit the number of posts that you can view in the forum where you are so that it's about 2 or 3 pages. Then the different popup menus should start working.

The VCR SCART only outputs composite video. The TV SCART can output better quality RGB, so you might want to connect that to your DVD recorder if it can take advantage of the improved quality and you can loop it through to your TV. I use that for BBC3 / BBC4 programmes that won't record on SKY+

You might want to check the SKY box manual, though, because I vaguely remember that on the original (non SKY+ box) the VCR SCART is used to trigger remote VCRs for unattended recording, so you may have to use this method if you want to record this way.
