    Hello all,

I am planning to build a contemporary style extension to my house and I was hoping that someone could give me some ball park figures for how much it will cost.

Extension will be roughly 110sqm with flat roof and will join to existing stone building. I know that with this kind of build the detail can be expensive, but may still be cheaper than more traditional extension of a similar size?

This is the type of detail I'd like to get:

are you sure it's 110 sq m? with a flat roof? That's not small, that's the size of 'normal' house............it's also blooming big for a flat roof btw.....

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

HOUSE magazine out now has a few nice examples of extensions with rough costings.

First of all 110sqm is huge. The extension in the image you've shown is approx 10sqm, just so you know. You would need and Architect and possibly Engineers for an extension this size.

As regards cost it would not necessarily be that expensive. There would be options you could go for that would keep it down.

Your first step should be to talk to an Architect. They will advise you different design and costing options.

Thanks for responses. Existing house is very small, so extension will be much bigger than that shown in the link above. Maybe not quite 110sq m, but enough for kitchen/diner, family room, 2 small bedrooms, small bathroom and hall.

I have met with architect and he should have approx price for me soon.
