Booking flights - but returning from a different city?

Would anyone know a good online site I can check out for flights and prices where I am flying into one airport but returning from another? All the sites i've tried so far wont let you choose an alternative return location. I was looking into flights from Dublin to Calgary but returning from Vancouver to Dublin. Ebookers is hopeless - it gives the impression you can do this but when you carefully check their "results" you realise it has ignored your return value and simply given a dublin-calgary-dublin result. Tried also Club travel site etc...

Why not just do two seperate one way searches? Most times these days you're not really booking 'return' flights as such and it gives you more options, using different airlines etc.

the problem is, booking one way flights with main (not budget airlines), prices are extortionate. For example if i book a return to Paris with air france, it'll cost me 150 euros. if i try and book one way, it'll cost me 600 euros. For flights like this, go to trailfinders or a good travel agents, or call the airline directly and book it over the phone as they'll accomodate this. online, it's impossible to do.

Then why not book the return flight and not use it coming back if its that much of a difference.

returning from a different city would cost just a smuch as a normal return. Buying two returns would cost double. for some reason they just inflate one way prices online. calling the airline resolves that issue

Thanks for all your replies - i'm planning a trip for late summer 2008 and I was just using the online search engines to get an overall impression of the sort of price I might be paying in the event - or even if it was possible. I'll check out the sites again.

A lot of airlines only allow you book 330 days in advance. Ryanair I think only allows you book 6 months in advance. We are going away in last week of June O8 to Lake Garda in Italy . We have our accomodation booked but can't book flights yet with aer lingus. I tried looking at BA and Luftansa and you get crazy prices !
