Looking at flying to Boston and New York in September. Want to fly direct to Bostin and return from New York. It is cheaper to book 2 one way flights on Aer Lingus website than a return flight. Is there any issue I should be aware of about booking 2 one way flights. Its €100 of a difference. Exact same flights.
    Cheers

No idea if it is cheaper- you'll have to look to find out!

Should not be any issues that I can think of

Could be cheaper but more than likely it'll be dearer, American Airlines are generally cheaper than Aer Lingus and that includes your Dublin to Heathrow flight,if you don't mind a little extra bit of traveling you could save up to €150 if you go to Boston or NYC Dublin via Heathrow.

Shouldn't be any problem, if that's how it works out best for you.

Agree with johnny - going direct especially booking now for a September flight will prove costly. The UK route will probably be cheaper - many more carrier lines to choose from that go from the UK. If you must do direct, think the return flights will be cheaper. Also - when booking on aerlingus websites sometimes the prices change depending on the time of day you log on to book. GMT lunch time will differ to 12 midnight - check it out...

what ellie2 is saying is that it IS cheaper to book 2 one way flights and is wondering if there is any downside to doing this.
I examined many options regarding flying to states and the cheapest was indeed 2 one way flights direct with aer lingus. Worked out at €460 including taxes.

I often see this with airlines (not just aer lingus) an have booked2 one way flights and had no problems.

You might want to be prepared for questions from US customs in Boston to explain your one way ticket. From my personal experience they can be a little bit distrustful and may think you are trying to smuggle yourself into the country.

Just make sure you have your return flight from NYC details to hand and not at the bottom of your suitcase, they may ask to see them.

I have done this numerous times, i have often booked a one way ticket to one city and another one-way ticket out of another city in the USA via aer lingus e.g into orlando out of new york; into los angeles out of chicago.

I never had any problems with US immigration officers in dublin as they never look for your airline ticket, just your passport and visa waiver forms.

If you can get two one-way tickets for 100euro less than a return then mostly definely go for it.
