    Hi everyone,
I'm in a company now earning 29.5k with 2 years experence in PHP and 6-9mths in asp.net/c#/framework. and I know a load of other bits and bobs too. Am I getting ripped? Whats the average salary for a programmer with that amount of experience.

the question of "average salaries" for various roles has been brought up here in the past and never with any success. its too variable. Along with that people dont really like disclosing their salaries, and thats completely fair.Your salary depends on:

    1. The company you work for.
    2. Your barganing power.
    3. How well you can demonstrate your skills and talk about them in an interview
    4. Location Location Location.

Let me make a stab at your question. I think you are on ok money. PHP, in my opinion is not in huge demand, so is not wort as much as say .NET. The more .NET expirience you have the more you are worth as its the "in" thing. Perhaps stay with your company and get your 12 months .NET. a nice round number like 1 year looks a lot better than 9 months, even if there is very little in the difference. Approach your company with your request to up your salary. Make sure to have a number of reasons why you deserve this increase, backed up by examples where you have used in your job to aid the company. If they offer you something crappy, no sweat. just keep working there while you look for a new job. your not on a bad deal on your current salary so use it to keep you going until you get that next job. When looking for your next job, make sure you know the range you want to fall into. I would say 35K-40K ish, but dont be greedy. You are still only young with not a whole lot of expirience. Best of luck
