    Hi all,

Is it possible to get .308 rounds around 120 grain bullet weight? And if so where can they be purchased? I know its possible to hand roll a .308 with this weight bullet. Also what seems to be the best all round .308 round?

    Jonty,

I just checked the Sako website and it states that your rifle has an 1:11 rifle twist. basically the rifle is set up for heavy bullets. 175 to 200 grains... I dont know if such a light bullet would stablize in that barrel.

    Jonty,
    Twist for a Sako 75 is 1 in 11.
    Best bullet wt .150 -155- 165- 168- 175 180.
Anyone know if Hornaday ammo is available here, I have not seen it for sale but .... :)

This is all I'd found too, but I'd refrained from mentioning it as it's not exactly a 'hunting' round; not in the sense we're talking about here, anyway.

The name says it all: TAP-FPD = Tactical Application Police-For Personal Defense.
It's specifically designed to have a low muzzle flash and for the projectile to fragment quickly without over penetration, both of which attributes would be quite useful when lamping foxes I suppose, but I'd be surprised if anyone actually imports it here as it's designed for a purpose from which we are specifically prohibited: home and personal defence.

Anyhow, Jonty, I'd say your only realistic hope of getting lightweight ammunition in .308 is for you to roll your own and see if you can get a suitable load to work acceptably in your 1:11 twist barrel.

Thanks for all the help lads, I've noticed Sako produce a .308 bullet with 123grain weight in both FMJ and soft point.
