My Alfasud Sprint emerges from the garage after completion of its refitting after its bodywork repair.

Can't wait to get back to using it regularly again but of course will be paranoid about where I park it in the future.

I am happy enough with the job done but as always there is nothing like the original and no matter how good a repair there is always that little something that nobody else would notice but that I do.

Anyway heres to a long and happy summers motoring - this time hopefully without mishap. :]

PS - for those not familiar with this saga here is how it looked 6 months ago after being rear ended by what I assume was a 4WD. It was a hit & run so I am out of pocket by about €1,300 over this tip.

The pics don't quite convey the depth of the 'ding'

All stripped down by me and off to the body shop.

    Oooh nasty !

How come it took 6 months ??

My car was hit by a cyclist a few years back, he put a nasty scratch on the door but before he picked himself up off the ground I asked him if he had €300 in his wallet, otherwise he'd find himself back on the ground very quickly !

Anyway he coughed up !! :D

Ah that's what happens when you have six classics and a few ordinary cars a 4wd and a van. They have to wait their turn.

Took a while to source the parts (a rear panel and bumper) Only used the bumper in the end and repaired the panel. That bumper however did not look as shiny as it does now when I got it 0 I had it professionally polished and had to refit the plastic trim from the original bumper. :)

WOW!! what a beauty!!! its sickening that someone would hit your car and just drive off. but it looks well now!!! a little tip a man gave me for returning the shine to bumpers is to use steel wool. it takes a while apparently but it doesn't scratch, or so i'm told!

Ah well - I suppose you just have to shrug it off and move on - would have loved to have seen it happen though. Happened while parked in the private car park of a doctor's surgery.

Another pic for those that are dying to see what the front looks like. :)

.........you can use it on stainless steel or regular steel but not chrome, it definitely WILL scratch chrome !

The car looks superb indeed !

I know the crack, I had intended to get the bodywork on my 280SE Coupe sorted before the show season started, not a hope of it, no time to do the little things !

......well in truth there are very few out there that aren't like that. Certainly mine do not enjoy close scrutiny !

Will she be making it to any shows this summer?

Howdy folks, my first post here even though I have lurked around the classics forum for ages now.

I saw that Alfa in Tralee on Sunday parked on the kerb somewhere around Oakpark IIRC. She was looking pretty sweet. Well done on the resto!

Surely will. All i have to do now is fit the Alfa logo centre caps to the alloys. Has to done from the inside so all the wheels have to come off - which is a bit of a chore but it will set off the alloys nicely.

    lovely alfa sud ,

when i was growing up in carlow , their was a few italians that owned shops in the town & they used to buy a new sprint every time one of the others bought one.

Very nice indeed. I like it from the back the most. I'm not quite gone on the side profile as it reminds me of the Audi/VW's of the 70's.
