GPS units and phones

    Hi guys,

Probably a very strange question but here it goes. I need to find a cost effective vehicle tracking solution that we can modify ourselves as we need. I've sourced a few companies, here in Ireland, the UK and US and the prices are ridiculous for a small company. My question is this, using a 'cheap' GPS unit (some version of TomTom or Navman) from a car equipment company (like Halfords etc) and one of the newer phones (like an O2 XDA or N95) is it possible to link the two and get the phone to upload GPS co-ordinates to a database (the rest of the tracking module (maps, position etc) I've already developed)?
