    Well i can vouch for pacificas being excellent guitars.
    BTW I have that exact model in black with the maple fretboard and it's a class guitar....Damn good choice!!!

    Dunno about the amp...never played thru one

    I used to have the 212R amp. Nice amp, very loud but the distortion wasn't great. Get him a nice pedal and it's a great beginners set that'll do him well for a long time.

    he has had an acustic for the last year, and is pretty good!. the guy in the shop sujested a second hand marshall MG100DFX! lucky i was there!!!:D
