    Hello there,

Just wondering, could anybody tell me if there are any STI clinics in south Dublin where by patients are seen on an appointment bases only?

Have been to the one in James' hospital but have been waiting upwards of three hours to be seen :(

If anyone could help me i'd be most grateful. Thank you.

There's the Wellman clinic. They've a few clinics around the city.

    Ring them on (01)8600364.

    Check them out at http://indigo.ie/~wellman/

They're only for men though - as the name would suggest!

I went to a DR in Ranelagh (long story short... on a Stag & did the bad thing with some bird from Finland!), Dr Freedman is his name. You have to book and its much better then sitting there for hrs on end. The costs are a more expensive then your normal STI clinic but its much better as its private.

You could also go to the WellWomanCentre and even thought the name suggests they only treat women their centre on Pembroke road tests men as well.

    More info http://www.wellwomancentre.ie/medical.html
    Infection Testing €150.00
    Student Infection Testing €135.00
(This is a full screen for STIs and includes bloods, swabs and any necessary referrals, prescriptions or follow-up. Men’s STI screening is available in Well Woman’s Pembroke Road clinic)

I booked myself an appointment in Dr Freedmans in Ranelagh on the advice of some friends who've attended him in the past. I wasn't quite sure of the procedure etc but when I called up to make the appointment I was asked would I like to speak to the Doctor himself to answer some of my queries (I had a few!). It was great to be able to get some info before I went in cos I wouldn't be the bravest when it comes to doctors!

The screening itself was quick and painless (thankfully!) and he was quite informative and helpful regarding some niggling problems that numerous GP visits have not been able to resolve for me! He examined the samples he took microscopically in his office so he was able to reassure me there and then that he saw nothing of any significance. He also has a test that can give a result for HIV in a few minutes too, which made the wait for the results to come back from the labs a lot less stressful (almost all my results were back within 5 days). I'd definitely recommend him to anyone that was looking for a doctor that actually knows what he's doing and is willing to spend more that the allotted 20mins with you if needed!

The contact no is: 01 4975826
I can't remember the exact house number but its in Ranelagh Village on the main street.

Yes Dr Freedman treats them with liquid nitrogen and a potent anti-viral that only doctors can handle. If you have health insurance it will cover wart treatment, if not I think it would be around €80

I'd have to recommend Dr. Freedman too. I saw on another board he wasn't been given a great review. I just got my sti test done. It cost €210 altogether so it's not cheap but then for peace of mind its def worth-generally its €180 but they add another €30 for the hiv test if you want your results in 5-10 mins, also you can get a appointment really quick. He was really nice and helpful. did all the main tests including a smear, I thought though I was getting all my results straight away but he said immediate tests for chlamydia etc. can be unreliable sometimes so I've to wait a week for them, but im grand with that, obviously hiv is the big one you worry about and I was really really anxious like shaking and everything but he was good at calming me and reckoned my main problem was over anxiety and worry. The well womans clinic seems a good one too and I think only costs €130 and even less if you only want to test for certain things.
