Playing Shallow...

I've been playing a lot of 1/2 and 2/4 PLO recently, and ive noticed something... When i buy in for the for the full amount i dont tend to so well, but when i buy in shallow (100 in 1/2 and 200 in 2/4) i tend to do a lot better... I've even taken this strategy one step further wherin if i see a flop for 20 and fold i top back u to 100... I think it is because later streets are more difficult to play, therfore i make more mistakes when i buy in deep... also i think it has something to do with the phycology of the other players i.e. i check-raise a guys' obvious aces with a set or 2 pair, they are more inclined to call me with the bare aces, as they dont have to fear a turn/river bet... any thoughts on this, or am i just seeing a pattern where there is no pattern?

Get Rolf Slotbooms book, Secrets of Professional Pot-Limit Omaha. Its mostly about the low (min) buy in approach for PLO.
Very good book, should help explain a lot of the concepts and situation your coming across.

Barry Greinstein advocates playing shallow too in Ace On The River. He has a list of reasons why it is sometimes, not always, advisable too and he usually does it himself, but I haven't got the book handy at the moment.

It works best against a table of full stacks, from the little I've played on IPoker lately there has usually been 2-3 shorties on the 6max tables which erases the edge you have as a short stack.
It's much better and more enjoyable to learn the game and play full stacked. imo.

i think ur jus a bad player and will lose in the long run no matter what u do so you should buy in as small as possible to try and spread out the money you do have!! :D i mean jack 8 4 5 all in pre flop..pff
