Annoying Red Button on Sky

Is it possible to get rid of the sky button adverts by changing a setting on the sky box?

On most channels it is ok, I can just press back up and it goes away for half an hour but lately it is almost constantly on some channels which is really annoying..

Most of the poker channels and sports channels show the pot / bets / score etc in the top left corner and these channels put the red button advert to cover that corner - on most other channels it is in the top right corner.

Eg. Watching poker on Challenge for last couple of hours and it comes up at least every 2 mins. When I press back up it goes away for another 2 mins.. Very annoying because it coers the bet section... Any help would be great!!

You sure can get rid of it. There was a software release a while back to allow you to do exactly that.

Go to Services --> System Setup --> Picture Settings. Make sure On-Screen Icon Timeout is on. Remember to save your settings at the end of the screen before exiting.

Glad to help. It was very annoying when you couldn't get rid of it. It always seems to come back just after ads.

That's the problem -- it keeps coming back so you keep pressing backup. By activating the timeout, you won't need to keep doing so.
