    Hi Guys,
I recently listened to one of the Steve Gibson Security now podcasts and was very impressed with a Guy Marc Maifret from EEye.com.. and his software called Blink..
Its supposed to be anti spyware anti mal ware anti virus and can has a built in health check for vulnerabilities..
So I Purchased a copy and downloaded it and proceeded to Install.. Next thing I know my AVG is detecting a Trojan Horse Virus in the E eye application..I healed the file but later in the install got an error as a file is missing etc etc and so rolled back the install..
Can any of you guys shed some light on why or how a security Vunerability tool is infecting machines???...

It's not infecting them. AVG is picking it up as a false positive (not an uncommon thing with security-related tools).

Happens all the time. AVG also detected the CCleaner installer as a trojan a while ago which had people crazy thinking CCleaner was a dodgy program, lot of people swore off using it even though it was a false positive by AVG.

Dr. Web Cureit also tends to get a few false positives. C'est la vie.

    Thanks for the replies Guys.....
It did say in the podcast that the program anonymously sends back info to them .. Is this what the trojan horse would do or is it definitly a false positive...You'd think maybe they'd warn you on their web site that this may happen.. I'd feel reassured then..
