To set up as a Sole Trader what exactly do I have to do?

I know that I must register a business name but are there any other requirements?

Just cannot find any info in relation to this.

    All help is appreciated.

After you register your business name you will need to register for VAT (however check thresholds for this - you might not need to) The required form is a TR1 form. See www.revenue.ie for form. Your certificate of business name will enable you to open a business bank account. After then it's about getting the business in!! Good logo, bus cards, website are a must but it depends on what ur doing I suppose!!! I cannot emphasise the importance of a marketing plan also no matter what business you in!!!
