Waterford/Cork I think this will be another epic with Waterford coming out on top
Limerick/Clare I fancy Limerick to win this one comfortably
Kilkenny/Galway No chance of an upset
Tipp/Wexford The more games Tipp play the better they get, i would expect them to win this one

On a serious note, I know hurling is supposed to be in crisis but for any true hurling fan these are going to be great matches

Here's my dream results (I can't help myself)

QF1 Waterford to defy the law of averages and beat Cork for the fourth time this year - and finally end thier season.

QF2 Limerick to beat Clare after a couple of drawn games.

QF3 Loughnane to outthink Cody and give Kilkenny an early exit (it might happen).

QF4 Wexford to rise from the dead and stun Tipp.

SF1 Waterford to beat an exhausted Limerick.

SF2 Wexford to continue thier run and send Loughnane back to the RTE panel.

Final Waterford to beat Wexford in a classic, I'll feel sorry for the pikemen, but I've been following the Deise for long enough to feel that we deserve to stumble over the line in first place just once !!

But what will probably happen (IMO)

    Limerick beat Clare
    Kilkenny beat Galway
    Tipp beat Wexford
    Waterford beat Cork

Now the last one is the tough one *IF* Waterford are on form they'd beat anyone, but Cork are probably reeling after the defeat to Tipp

    Keep going:

    KK beat Tipp
    Waterford beat Limerick

    And final

    Tough game, but...

Waterford beat KK (IF on form - see above)

KK are a good team of course, but haven't been really tested this year. Last big test was Waterford in the league and they lost. Then again KK can always play a brilliant game.

    In a totally unbiased view......(lol)

Kilkenny beat Galway - it could actually be close, definately not a rout. But KKs experience and class should come through

Tipp beat Wexford - sorry Wexford, but with them on a down after the Leinster final, and Tipp on such a high, it should only go one way

Limerick beat Clare - Limerick have a weekend off which will help them and I haven't really been impressed with Clare, despite that victory over Galway

Waterford beat Cork - It will be close, very close, again! But WF have proved they can finally pull through tight games at the end of matches and I think they'll win by a puck of the ball in the end.

Kilkenny beat Tipp - Probably one step too far for Tipp. KK wont give them the space they had against Cork but I can still see them hanging in there until the final few minutes.

Waterford beat Limerick - Waterford shouldnt really leave such an opportunity go if this matches happens. They've done it already against Limerick but by no means would Limerick be dissapointed with an AI semi appearence and a Munster final. They've come on leaps and bounds this year.

Waterford vs. Kilkenny - like I said, totally unbiased. Thats why I couldnt pick a winner here. Ah what the hell.......a draw!

Clare might not be playing too well but remember they beat Limerick by 19 points last year and they love being the underdogs, I can see this being a good game and there wont be much in it either way at the final whistle. Tipp should beat Wexford, Kilkenny should beat Galway and as for Waterford Cork, its 50-50 but I would go for Cork, just.

I honestly reckon Cork will beat Waterford. Waterford have a history of bottling it, especially against Cork. Everyone is touting this as being their year, but I think as long as Shanahan is shackled Cork will steal this by a point or two. One way or other, we will see another classic and a very narrow margin.

Apart from that I see Tipp, Kilkenny and Limerick winning their ties, though I would love to see Galway repeat their performance of 2005 and do Kilkenny.

hmm. Not sure if I agree that Waterford will beat Cork this time around
(although I'd like to see it happen). They scored 5 goals against them in Munster but they needed every one of them. Can't see them repeat that again. Plus Cork were without key defenders so Big Dan and Mullane are unlikely to get the space.Kilkenny should go through depends on what Galway team turn up.Galway were dire ( first real match though!) against Clare who also don't look like world beaters. I'd love to see Wexford beat Tipp and traditionally Tipp struggled against them but I can't see that happen this time. Limerick have a lot of hurling done this year and didn't deserve the final 10 mins against Waterford but they should outhurl Clare.
Semis- Kilkenny to beat Tipp and Cork to beat Limerick. Big two again?
With them in a final it could go anyway!!

I don't think you can dwell on the Waterford Cork match a few weeks ago too much. I was there and I've honestly never seen anything like it, it was just a once off, freak of a game. Expect more along the lines of last years AI Semis Final I'd say. Whether we can pull it off in the final few minutes which we've managed to do nearly all year long will determine who will win the game.

Tipperary v Wexford: Tipp should win this one. If they've got in them to beat Cork, they are definitely to good for wexford who look the poorest team in the QF's. Tipperary by 7 points.

Kilkenny v Galway: Kilkenny haven't really been challenged yet, and this will be their first 'real' game of the season. Galway were surprisingly beaten by Clare, but I don't think they are as bad as that performance. They need to salvage some pride against Kilkenny. Kilkenny by 4 points.

Limerick v Clare: A very even contest here. Limerick will have a big boost from beating Tipp, and played well against Waterford just letting themselves down near the end. Clare took their goals well against Galway, and surprised a lot of people. Clare hammered Limerick in the play-offs last year. It wont be the same this year. A draw (Too close to call imo)

Waterford v Cork: Waterford must be sick of meeting Cork at this stage. 4th game of the year. Waterford looked a class act in the Munster Championship, as good as any team in the country. Cork are not the force they were, but I was surprised that they lost to Tipp. Cork will be stung after loosing to Waterford and Tipp and will be dangerous. Waterford have the edge with some great goalscorers in their team though. A tight game. Waterford by 2 points.

Tipp should definitely account for Wexford eventhough its their 7th week on the trot and the sight of a Wexford jersey won't motivate them as much as the sight of a Cork jersey obviously did last week.

Limerick and Clare another local derby that really could go to either side but you would just have to say that Limerick have the definite edge in terms of fitness, hunger, etc.

You just never know which Galway team will turn up but can you imagine the humour on Loughnane after that defeat to Clare. Galway can beat anyone on their day and I'd say Kilkenny won't be ready for the Munster championship type intensity that Galway will throw at them. Kilkenny usually have a build up to that intensity as they get to an AI, but this year they will find themselves suddenly up against it without any preperation/sample of it and Galway will beat them.

Waterford V Cork is almost becoming boring except for the absolutely great matches between the two. Unfortunately from a Cork point of view I just can't see Cork defeating Waterford, too many selections based on club affiliations, too many backs not performing (even our much vaunted half back line) and an attack that is just not strong enough without Niall Mc to create the room for the others. Waterford to win comfortably enough. They also have a point to prove, that they can beat a full strenght Cork team and I can see the pages from Brian Corcorans book up on their dressing room wall. I hope I'm wrong but I just can't see Cork doing it.

So Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford and Galway.
And despite all the Hurling knockers out there, this years AI is wide open.

I totally agree rebs. There is a huge possibility this year that both the big two will get knocked out in the quarters! That semi final lineup that you chose would do the game wonders.

Wexford have flopped badly in their last 2 qrt-finals. Will it be 3 in a row? I don't think they'll flop this time but it will be a major surprise if Tipp don't win, probably by about 6 points.

Cork will beat Waterford this time, you just know it, especially with the game in Croke Park. Expect a Cork backlash and the end of the line for this Waterford team.

Limerick should beat Clare who are a poor enough team. They were hugely up for it against Loughnane and Galway but they've gone back alot in the last few years. Limerick to win although there probably won't be a whole lot in it.

Kilkenny can't be opposed. As much as I'd love to see Galway come good on Sunday, I have my doubts that this Galway team really have what it takes. People say Kilkenny haven't been tested, but that's as much due to them being very good as the opposition being poor. It won't be a rout by any means, but Kilkenny's ability to get goals will probably see them home.

The standard of hurling has been good this summer. Some enjoyable games. As a Dub I am a bit sick to see Wexford there. Are they deserving of there place? I would say the other 7 there are deserving of a place whereas Wexford had a cake walk in an easy province. I would like to see the provincial runners up dumped into the qualifiers. It would give the Dubs, Laois, Offaly and Antrim a better chance to get back in the big time. A day out in Croker is what the Dubs need to get over our inferiority complex we have at senior level and if we were not to get there I would like to see another one of the so-called weak teams have a chance. The game needs some new blood. It might take years to get it though under the current system.
