Reversing calling charge

    Hey guys!

I'm off to Paris on Tuesday morning at 6:30! My first time travelling abroad too, and I'm looking for some basic tips/info/any advice to offer!

One of the main things I'm looking for is how to reverse calling charges, it's something that I'm pretty sure I'll be needing! I'll be heading from Paris on a train to Amsterdam and am wondering what the number to call an operator is.. Is it the same number no matter where you call from? I know about 00353 instead of the first 0 but don't know the rest!

I'm also looking for any good planning website! I'm gonna have a flick around google maps and try and suss everything out!

Planning on getting travellers cheques tomorrow to have as a money source, take it that's my best option?

    Cheers for any advice posted!

To call home from France is is 00353 then the number without the zero. i.e. to call dublin 01 2345678 then call 00 353 1 2345678

I believe to make a reverse charge call, you dial 3006. Can't remember what is in the Netherlands, but calling home directly is the same.

As for travellers cheques, I normally don't bother. I use my bank issued ATM/credit cards and/or cash in Euros.

Yeh, see I don't have a credit card, just a pre-paid 3v card! And I haven't got a bank account atm, in the middle of a transfer from BOI to PTSB after some rediculous charging..

I'm planning on bringing about a grand, on a bit of a budget, so could be interesting! Looking for my old phrase book for the French, then have to negotiate Brussell's and Amsterdam! What language do the brussell folks speak actually? Might look that up on google..
