Security Scare at Dundrum Shopping Centre

    Can't find anything on the net - but just been on the phone to someone in dundrum shopping centre - the place is getting evacuated at the moment.

    It may not be the entire place - the person i was talking to was in NEXT at the time, and they said everybody in there was getting evacuated - my understanding is it is the entire shopping centre; but i could be wrong.

    also 14 tesco in uk stoes where closed due to a unknown security issue

    Ok - turned out someone in one of the shops hit the wrong button on their intercom (or summit like that) and caused a bit of a panic in the shops beside them - so nothing actually happned.

    Dundrum is equipped with what's called a voice alarm - it's a cross between a stereo system (for playing music and lost child announcements) and a fire alarm. The centre has one, House of Fraser does and Marks and Spencers does.

    Usually the sound system will only trigger the evacuation message if the fire alarm tells them to, or someone presses a button (usually secured with a key!).

    Was anyone actually there for it? Don't think it covers the shops apart from the two that have their own.

    At least we now know there's an evacuation plan and that it works pretty well I guess.

    I remember when i was watching click in the cinema and then all of a sudden some employee just comes in and blocks the screen and tells everyone to evacuate the building. Then we couldnt find a way out lol and then some girl was like having a heart attack and fell on the floor then we went back and we found another exit. and because the we didnt get to see the end of the movie we asked for a refund even though it was ending in about 10 mins. We got some coupons for a free movie =]
