    A 90 min doc Once in a Lifetime is on BBC2 at 10 pm tonight and should be required viewing all the major figures except Pele are interviewed about the first attempt at bring the professional game to the colonies.

    think I may have seen this before(or something like it).

    Pele's fake tears when he scores for the cosmos for the first time was one of the most stomach churning things I've ever seen.

    "I'm just so happy to" sniff sniff "score for this team that I love so much" sob sob.

    Greatest player ever???

    Greatest sellout whore ever more like!!

    If only.

    Not unusual for tv channels to try and sabotage another's "big event".

    I assume the NPSL referred to is actually NASL. ;)

    Its actually about the New York Cosmos, not the NASL. Have this set up to record on my Sky+ since it clashes with copa final.

    Heres the preview from the BBC site;

    The United States emerged from the1960s ragged and ready for a change. Fortunately, the US has always been skilled at reinventing itself and the seventies became a time of growth and experimentation. Clothes became different, hairstyles exotic, and music was heading in strange new directions. So it seemed like the right time to try something new in sport and some enterprising Hollywood executives thought that soccer might just be the next big thing. Players, coaches and journalists recall the The Cosmos, the high octane New York club whose all-star team were equally famed for their antics at Studio 54 as for their footballing skills. Some strong language.

    Yeah, it was. Good seeing players like Denis Tueart and Steve Hunt who I'd forgotten played for the Cosmos. And Georgio Chinaglia didn't come out of it too well.
