Oh goody, more nonsense from the black helicopter brigade.

The most offensive aspect of the "Make Poverty History" crusade, was that it failed to look at the root causes of said poverty in the first place, i.e. trade, corruption, and sheer misgovernance on the part of the countries themselves.

Far easier to write off Mugabe's gold tap debt instead of facing up to the real issues that condemn the populace of an entire continent to a life of misery...

Unless you give the rest of the money to someone in a developing country then what's the point.

Jeez, bit of a negative response here. C'mon we know this is the truth. It's just diversions from the real problems.

There's still debt, more hunger, more suffering, NOTHING has changed.

Educate yourselves on the New World Order.

We like the New World Order! Esp as it gives Jon Ronson the material he needs for clever funny tv progs.

I would'nt have name checked Jon Ronson if I did'nt.

There are two ways to approach this- either one chooses to belive in it and be appalled - sell the house, quit the job and become a profesional aggitator who'll stop at nothing (except to collect dole money) to free us from the evils of the Bilderberg group and its acolytes or you can shrug and get on with a reasonably comfortable life.

    "Make Poverty History Fraud"

    a thought provoking 3minute video.

...which could have been equally well expressed in less than 1000 typed words and a handful of pictures.

Why then, did it not utilise solely the written word, but instead set it to music in the form of a video? Perhaps it is because music and visual spectacle is - as the producer of that piece knows - an increasingly effective way to attract awareness in this modern day and age.

Strange, then, that what the producer is complaining about is that others dared to do the same. They had a bigger budget at their disposal, so they used it to give themselves a bigger stage (pun intended) than youTube.

No-one seriously believed that a set of concerts would end world poverty. Those behind the organisation of these events themselves have repeatedly made many of the same comments that the producer of the video have made - that the political leaders make and break promises about this issue. They have said that this will continue to be the case until public awareness and public opinion forces them to.

The aim was to increase public awareness. I don't care if those behind it can have charges of hypocracy levelled against them, because it will simply refocus attention on the very message they are trying to bring attention to.

Thought-provoking? I sure hope so. Its no more honest than the actions of those involved in Make Poverty History, but just like that event, if it raises peoples awareness of the problem, I'm all for it.

I've actually heard American Presidents use the phrase New World Order. It was the first time I'd actually ever heard of it. I don't know what their idea of a new world order is, but they have used it.

The NWO was coined in the aftermath of Soviet communism collapsing, the thought at the time was that after 45 years of two nuke blocks facing off one another we would be in for clear blue skies and a peaceful new world order.

    Oh well...:(

The producer is not complaining that others dared do the same  . he's complaining about the new world order and advising people to research it. No hypocrisy there as far as I can see.

Then why does the title suggest that Make Povery History is a fraud? Why does the video target for derision some of the artists involved?

If the organisers are not defrauding someone, then the complaint should be that the world leaders haven't lived up to their promises - that they perhaps even lied, not that MPH was fraud.
he's complaining about the new world order and advising people to research it.
If I wanted peopel to do that, I'd say "research the NWO". I wouldn't say "MPH is fraud because the people who didn't organise it didn't live up to their promises".

    I guess its just me.

    jeez talk about pedantic.

Anyway, the key point of the video is that the true causes of poverty are not known by most people.

It further suggests that the new world order and its various branches of elite organisations (some of which are shown at the end) are responsible for the perpetuation of poverty and people who want to know why poverty is still not history (and why the entire world or so f*cked up for that matter) should try researching the new world order. Or the illuminati for that matter. (my suggestion) :)
